South China Institute of Precision Manufacture (SCPM) is a non-profit scientific research institution dedicated to the precision manufacturing applied technology. It offers highly innovative solutions and complete tailor-made products for its clients. Furthermore, SCPM is engaged in the research and development (R&D) and in conducting of the technology commercialization process - from prototype to real product. It was formally opened in 2006, co-founded by the Guangdong Provincial Science and Technology Department and other two governmental institutions. SCPM is one of key construction projects initialized in Guangdong Province ’s "Eleventh Five-Year" plan, and serves as a major industrial innovation platform in the Guangdong Province. 

SCPM sponsored the setting up of an Enterprise-College-Institute strategic alliance (i.e. the combination of enterprises, colleges and institutes). The members include renowned colleges and institutes such as the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Tsinghua University , etc. Together they are engaged in the R&D of hi-end applied technology of precision manufacturing. Serving as a bridge within the alliance, SCPM devotes itself to transforming advanced technological know-how into concrete projects and products. Since 2007, SCPM has been awarded as a successful cooperation model of Enterprise-College-Institute by Guangdong Provincial Education Department.

At present, SCPM has already built up several subsidiaries that undertake the research of applied technology of precision manufacturing, including six technology centers for:
